So today we ventured out to the Christmas Fare – Free event, In the hope of finding some good Christmas gifts for the relatives.
This is the first year the Yurt Camp has done this, it was a reasonable turn out stall wise, with about 12 stalls in total.
I don’t usually venture out to Christmas Fayre’s as I know the kids will badger me for money to spend!!. Plus i’m relatively good at crafty things!… not usually overly impressed by other people’s home-made items…harsh I know!.
I avoid the sweet stalls, if i want to by a cone of sweets I would buy the cones and sweets separately and get the kids to make them up (they would love this, but it would be One for the cone, Two for the mouth.
We headed straight for the food stall…and wow ! Mike and Leanne Welsh (M.Welsh Catering Services) A Devon based family run business (with over 20 year of catering experience) now run all of the outside catering events at The Yurt Camp. We all tucked into a “Pig In Blanket” Hot dog, The quality of sausage was spot on! They certainly know quality food!.
Sporting Christmas jumpers, hats with elf ears! the Christmas spirit was well and truly there!. It’s apparent they know good food and a have a true passion for producing locally sourced products and a good price for consumers!!. They also cater for weddings and private functions!, plus much more. Their hog roast is not to be missed!.
Wax melts!…I nearly walked straight pass this stall of beauts!..I’m so glad I didn’t!. I thought it was bath soaps!, which having a boy with Eczema, scented soaps are a no go. My Sister In Law was under the same impression! But she even went a step further to think the buttons were nipple rubs! hahaha!!. If only we had read the signage we would have seen straight away that they were candle melts!
The Stall “WhicksnWhacks” is a Locally based , Mother and Daughter run Company that’s been running about 10 years. Anna (the Daughter) was running the stall, she had a really engaging personality…she naturally draws in the consumers!. I could have talked all day to her!. They have a huge internet business that appears to be thriving!.
The stall set up was inviting!, bright colours, lots of jars and lots of samples that you could sniff!.
Santa was on site with a very chirpy elf!…they were both very engaging with the kids… handing out free sweets and letters for Santa were available.
The Yurt Site
The site bursts with quaintness!, it’s a really lovely site with a fab cafe, staff are friendly and polite. On site parking, coffee’s inside the cafe are freshly ground and at reasonable prices! which is a bonus. Its well worth a look.
So all in all, we left happy! stomachs full of LUSH food and lots of wax melts!
Kids we happy! …result!
